Inspired by Raoul von Koczalski and Moriz Rosenthal, both students of Mikuli, himself a student of Chopin. This is a ‘historically informed performance’ of this nocturne, in that I slightly break up the hands between melody and accompaniment and use a very free rubato, inspired by Bel Canto singing that Chopin admired so much.
